Thought of the Day: Reaching for your Dreams
So I’ve started subbing a few weeks back and its been an interesting experience.
Subbing waaas def not on my list of jobs that i was aiming for after graduating buuut now that i’ve done it…i recommend everyone to do it at least 3 times…
the first time is so you can get your @$$ beat…2nd time b/c now you have your feet wet and know a lil better now…the 3rd time is..well..3rd time is the charm
it’s def one of those character-building jobs and believe it or not is good for you. believe me aaand trust me on this.
aand now that i’ve run off on a tangent instead of segue-ing into my thought of the day, let me get back on track…
subbing these kids and seeing them for the people they are and maybe who they will become..it makes me wonder how we, as we grow, lose what we had then..
i sub elementary and high school and i see the hope in both age group’s eyes..yes they are totally different in age, maturity and such, but they still have dreams..they have hope for their futures…they don’t know what the world holds for them but they carry on day to day and dream of tomorrow..
yes, i do realize that high schoolers are a biiit closer in biting that apple, but still..what i’m trying to prove is that we have these dreams..these goals we want to achieve…all the way from elementary, maybe even younger (i’ll tell you when i sub primary) aaand somewhere along the line after high school..we lose sight…we settle..trouble happens..circumstance…financial woes…
life happens.
we ride it in the direction it steers us, whether or not that was our initial plan…we mature as adults, and take the responsibilities that have been handed to us and deal with them the way we should. the way they “need” to be handled.
the question though is…IS that good enough?
we have one life here on earth. thats it. one life to be human and to experience the joys and sorrows and full spectrum of emotions we are only lucky to have…and one of those joys should be the fulfillment of our dreams..
reaching out for your dreams..yes they may not happen exactly the way you want them to..but ever does?
the important thing, the ESSENTIAL thing is that you attempted, that you tried..and that no matter how hard it gets..no matter how much time it might take or how many x factors get in the way…you continue reaching for them.
THATS the clincher right there.
“To dare is to lose one’s footing momentarily. Not to dare is to lose oneself.” -Soren Kierkegaard
<– one of my favorite quotes by one of my favorite people.
We can never settle for anything in this life, we must always keep that willingness, that energy in us, to continue pushing forward, to continue fighting the odds…because thats what it is all about eh?
No matter where life has taken us to this day, we must remember what dreams we had in those early years..whether it was an astronaut or a famous musician, and not think of these dreams as ridiculous or impossible to achieve..rather, we must find a way to make as much of it possible…and to continue reaching to make it a reality..
Life is full of ups and downs and, especially after high school, the world can be and often is a dark place…but thats the way the ball bounces and, believe it or not, i fully believe we are designed to deal with it..don’t get me wrong, i wish life was more gumballs and candy drops, but you have to deal with the cards that have been dealt… you have to deal with the cards, but it doesn’t mean thats the only game to be played eh? <—most analogies EVER in a paragraph
So remember folks, ladies and germs, as cliche as it may sound, never stop reaching for your dreams because one day..one day… they might just come true.
